Book Review: Operating Instructions
The book Operating Instructions: A Journal of My Son's First Year by Anne Lamott is an honest and truthful account of motherhood. The author describes every raw emotion she feels, the good and the bad. I have had a lot of these thoughts and emotions. Some of the actions she considers, I do to. These are things I never spoke to anyone, granted most were fleeting thoughts. I never knew other mothers felt the same way about their child. I was too scared to ask.
For me this is a MUST read for every mom out there. There is a dark and hidden side of motherhood that no one ever speaks about. This book shows that we are not alone. All mom's feel this way at some point.
Thank you so much Mrs. Lamott for being so brave to share these thoughts. I believe you are starting a conversation that needs to happen.
It really is an amazing book and a quick read!
