La Luz

La Luz is a famous hiking trail here in Albuquerque. It is roughly eight miles long, has a 4,000 feet elevation increase and takes one up the Sandia mountains. Since moving here in 2006 I have always had this desire to hike it but I never had anyone who wanted to attempt it with me. Well, that changed yesterday. My good friend Angelina, the one who took the amazing photos for Braylon's birthday, loves to hike and be out doors. She is always taking up some new grand adventure. She invited me and long with some other friends to brave the trail with her. I was nervous to go because of Braylon. I would be carrying him in my pack for eight miles or roughly four hours of hiking. He is an active boy and I was worried that he would want down and start to cry. I did not want to ruin anyones experience of the hike, crying has the affect some times. Also what if it happened exactly two hours in and I have to make him cry for two more hours? All this plus so much more was running non-stop through my head. Luckily, Angelina convinced me to come and that there would be enough people to help me with him. So we got up bright and ear;y Sunday morning to head off for the trail.
Here we are ready to start the hike!

Posing for a picture about half way through.

We made it!Yay!
Braylon did GREAT on the hike! We only had one incident of five minute crying and the rest of the time he was either looking around or passed out! Let me tell you though, it was a hard hike with him on me. I did get a little break while another group member carried him and boy was the trail a thousand times easier. But we survived and made it up the hill alive! I am so proud of myself for accomplishing that.

After we got to the top we rested and had a few snacks. Then it was down the tram, no we did not do the trail back down, and off to Flying Star for french toast. Either they have the best french toast ever or we were so hungry that it tasted amazing!
Looking out of the tram. He loved this thing!

Dark some what group photo.
I had a blast and it was great to say I have done it. I cannot wait until our next hiking adventure!
