I just might be a runner

The phrase 'I am not a runner' is something that has come out of my mouth frequently. In high school I barely made the grade level time limit on running the mile. I believe it was something like 10:30. It took everything I had for me to make in and it would takes me days to recover. My chest would hurt really bad and breathing was very hard. And that was after a mile. Well, I guess I am not longer that out of shape person. As you know in the beginning of the summer I started training with two other mommy friends (Stephanie and Melinda) for a 10k. I remember the end of each week wondering how in the world I can run any longer than I just had. I was beat after the workouts. I guess this program is working because I am going to say that I am ready for a 10k. Every Saturday I go and join other runners and run along the Bosque trail here in Albuquerque. Today I ran for five miles! FIVE MILES!!! I am shocked that I can run that long. And I could have probably made it the remaining 1.6 miles of the 10k. My time for the five miles was 48:56. Yes, in less than 50 minutes I ran for five miles. And even more impressive I set a new time record for my first mile. I completed mile number one in 8:54. I am still in shock with how well I am doing with running. I am starting to enjoy it so much and I have reached the point that I could just keep going! I thought that a runners high was a myth but nope it is real and I have reached that point! I will be running in my first race at the end of September. It will only be a 5k but I want to start out slow. I hear the race scene is VERY competitive!

Oh and look at what a cute running partner I have...
He falls asleep fast on runs, I just have to keep moving to keep him asleep!
