Braylon's First Birthday

As some of you may or may not know birthdays are a very big deal to me. I start count downs months in advanced. I once even sent all my relatives a calender with my birthday as the only occasion marked. On my birthday the day is ALL about ME. We eat what I want and we do what I want. Growing up as one of five we did not have the money to go out a lot. So on our birthdays we got to choose which restaurant we wanted to eat at. It usually became a birthday treat and we would only go there on that persons birthday. So naturally,  I want my son to have a day all about him on his birthday too. Since he could not tell us what he wanted to do this year or eat, we decided for him.

We started off the day with Daddy making some french toast and hurried very fast to get ready and headed out the door for a class at Gymboree. The class was a normal one, but at the end all of Braylon's little Gym buddies sang him Happy Birthday and he got a balloon. When then headed home where he took a fairly long two hour nap.
One very tired Birthday Boy!

Once he woke and had some grilled cheese, we headed over to the fair. I know that we went last Friday too, but daddy did not get to go and we wanted to enjoy the experience together with him. Braylon got to feed and pet some goats and sheep, which he was pretty excited about.

We walked though some of the exhibits and then left. There is not much he can do there and it was getting close to dinner time. So off to Olive Garden we went, where enjoyed a dinner of bread sticks, pasta and parts of dad's meatballs. He was loving it. We did not have dessert there because I had made a batch of practice cupcakes for his party on October 8th.

Chocolate, chocolate chip banana monkey cupcakes

And on Thursday night I had made a chocolate cheesecake, so we ate those for dessert. So we headed home and took the dogs for a nice long walk to let our food settle. Finally, we skyped with Grandma (my mom), Aunt Alyx and cousin Liam. We all sang him Happy Birthday again and let him attempt to blow out the candle. Braylon really did not eat much of the cupcake. I think he was a little full from all the other eating we did that day. So he played in it and smeared it on me. Oh and took a bite out of the candle. And then while we were all still talking he fell asleep on me. He must of been so tired because he has not done that in probably nine months!

All in all it was a great day. And I did not cry once! It was more of a joyous sad than a sad at all.
