It is hard to believe that in three short months we will be celebrating a first birthday. Really, where has the time gone? Today we had his nine month well baby visit and I am happy to report that there were no shots! Yay! He does pretty well with them but I do not. Braylon is weighing in at 19 pounds and 8 ounces (50th percentile) and he is 29 inches long (75th percentile). He is becoming quite the big boy. Not so much a preemie any more!
Here is what has happened the past month...
- Crawling, mostly army but sometimes on his hands and knees
- Pulling up one everything
- Climbing on toys to get to other bigger toys
- Eating a lot more of mommy and daddy's food (we HAVE to share or it is meltdown central)
- Can feed himself finger foods
- Still loves bath time and water
- Loves to be in the pool
- Claps his hands when we say 'Yay, Braylon'
- Signs more and understands mommy, daddy and milk
- Is very talkative but has yet to say any real words
- Is mostly wearing size 9-12 mo clothes, some 6-9 fit
- Still wearing a size three diaper
At our doctor appointment today we had to a questionnaire on how he is developing. It covered all things from communication skills to social and to motor skills. As far as motor skills, fine and gross, Braylon is doing GREAT! There were only one thing in each section that he only does sometime and not all the time. Communication is where he is lacking. He does not make the sounds of da, ma, or ba and does not say any words. He also is not to the point of where I can have him clap his hands if I tell him to or will not play peek-a-boo if I do not show him how it is done. His doctor was not concerned at all and assured us that boys tend to develop communication skills slower than girls but excel in motor skills (which is him exactly). It looks like though I have some things to work with him on. I am going to also try to spend more time doing sign language with him. We were told that it is time for him to have shoes. When Braylon stands he always does so on his toes. Sometimes he settles flat footed and sometimes he does not. We were told that having him in shoes would help him learn to put his foot flat on the ground. I do not have shoes for him because I have never seen the point to spend money on them when his feet do not hit the ground. However, I will get them now. And what is better, the doctor is TELLING me to spend money! Shopping here we come!
All in all we had a really good visit.

I will upload real nine month pictures once I take some. It was too hot today and well I was too lazy!
I am so glad he is doing great! Yay for shoe shopping!! (Try Old Navy clearance section...that's where we have gotten the best deals).
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tip! I did some online searching and I am NOT down with paying 30plus for baby shoes!
