Haze, Haze go away, little Braylon wants to play. For the past two weeks, every night Albuquerque has been blanketed with dark smoke. It rolls in and makes me and Braylon retreat to the inside. The smoke is coming from the Wallow fire in Arizona that has burned roughly 600 thousand acres. The only lucky thing about the fire is that it is in the forest and has not threatened too many houses. Now that it has crossed into New Mexico it has the possibility of threatening a few Arizona/New Mexico boarder towns. From what the news has been saying is that the fire has not been contained. With the winds and the size of the fire it has been difficult to get any sort of handle on.
Here are the skys of Albuquerque
It has been so bad that in the mornings I have found chunks of ash on my car and at times you can see it falling. I have never seen anything like this. The New Mexico/Arizona border is at least 200 and something miles away. I am amazed that ash can travel that far. It only goes to show just how bad those fires are.
A major drawback is the air quality is very poor in the morning and at night. It is best to be outside, of you must, in the middle of the day. This has cramped me and Braylon getting outside. The smoke has bothered Braylon's eyes and making him cough. So I have been trying to not take him out in it. However, it is hard to stay in all day. We both love getting out for walks, going to the pool and the park. Luckily, Gymboree has open gym three times a week for two hours, where Braylon can climb and play, so we have been taking advantage of that a lot. Hopefully, it gets better because that means that the fires would be contained and we already have plans to go swimming and a lunch date this week.
