Donation
Today I met up with a lady to give her 125 ounces of my breastmilk. I am part of this organization on Facebook called 'Eats and Feets'. It is a national organization that connects moms with extra breastmilk to women who want it for their child. I had been looking into donations for some time but I did not like the idea of people being charged for my milk. In most cases hospitals or parents are charged around 3.50 an ounce! That is outrageous to me for something that I produce for free. My freezer no longer had room for any frozen foods due to all the milk I stored. Around last count I had over 400 ounces of that stuff. Braylon no longer takes a bottle from me and fights taking one if I am in the room. Since school is over I am always with. He might get 4-5 ounces every two weeks. Frozen milk is good for away from 3-6 months. I decided that I could get ride of the November stuff I have. Every month I want to take and donate the earliest month I have so that I only have two months max in my freezer. So, I decided to give this site a try and I found a lady that adopted a baby born on September 3rd. Colin went with me to met her and had the milk over. It all went very smoothly. I am looking forward to donating to her and others again in the future. Breastmilk is the best thing a baby can have and I plan on helping out as many people I can by donating my extra. I love the feeling I got by allowing this women to give her baby some great protection through my breastmilk.
