Life-Long Friends

Have you ever looked at your kids friends and wondered if they would like each other 10, 15 or even 20 years down the road? Of if they will even like each other at all, considering at 19 months they really cannot 'choose' friends.

I offend find myself doing this. I remember the friends I had growing up because my parents were friends with theirs. Up through elementary school I was still friends with them, but in intermediate and high school we went our different ways and rarely talked.

As much as I know that the odds are in favor of above happening with Braylon, I really hope it does not happen. You see I have this good friend and she has a son (I talk about them all the time on here). We did not meet until last summer. And up until recently, our boys tolerated each other. And by tolerate I mean bit, hit and pushed each other. However, we did not care that all actions pointed to a dislike for the other, we still forced them to hang out. Over the past few months things have changed. Me and Melinda will do running with he boys and they will stick out their hands from the stroller and hold hands (trust me it makes running very difficult). They will randomly hug and love on each other. They seem to be best buds. Last Friday we went for a run, then lunch and finally a park. At lunch the boys sat by themselves (their table was about two inches removed so that they could not steal our food) and jabbered with each other the entire hour we were there. They actually had a conversation where one would speak and then wait for the other to respond! It was very cute. Then when we got to the park they explored and played together. This rarely happens. Usually, Tanner and Braylon go in opposite directions and me and Melinda get no time to relax and talk. That day we were able to sit on a bench and talk while they explored.

Climbing the slide together.

Getting ready to go down.

I really hope that these two boys refrain friends! Well, at least we will force them because I am not giving up my friend!

  1. This was a cute post! We have some good looking boys don't we! I am so happy they are finally liking each other haha!! It's so nice not worrying about biting and hitting and finally being able to relax! I hope they remain friends too and if not they will be forced lol!

  2. Yes we will force them! I hear that guys are more likely to not get rid of friends through the years. So here is to hoping!
