Look what I created!

I have going full steam ahead getting Braylon's room finished. In doing so, I have been looking all over the Internet for fire fighter photos. The other night I was showing them to Colin and asking his opinion and he had the suggestion that I put up some of the photos for his fire academy. What a great idea. During all of this I have been scouring Pinterest for more home decorating ideas. I ran across a blog that shows how to make your own canvas photos, so I decided to try it on my own.

Here is want you need:
  • Photos
  • Art canvas
  • mod podge
  • knife to cut the photo
  • paint --I used leftover paint from Braylon's room
  • sand paper
So you get your photos and art canvas of the same size. Paint the edges of the canvas, if you want it to be something other than the white fabric. I used the left over grey paint I used in Braylon's room. Once the paint has dried, mod podge the canvas and the back of the photo and lay the photo on the canvas. Smooth out all of the bubbles, if there are any. Once this has dried, it does not take long, cut the photo to the size of the canvas if any overlaps. You can use sand paper on the edges down to make it smooth against the canvas. Finally, put a layer of mod podge over the photo. Do not worry t will be ok! Let dry and you are all done. FYI this can also been done on wood.

I used 8x10 canvases. I really like them. On the plus side Braylon's daddy is in these photos. As he grows they can look at them together and tell stories. Also, these were soooo cheap. The canvases were 4.99 each and the photos were 5 dollars for all three. Way better than the 20 dollar plus price tag to order them.

I am hoping to finish his room very soon. I am picking up a few more items tomorrow and then just really need a table/nightstand and I think I am done! Well, done until we are ready to upgrade to the toddler bed.
