Daycare Parents

So on Friday Braylon had a Saint Patrick's day party at school. This is the second party that he has had at school, but the first one that either Colin or I attended. I did not have enough time off to go to the Valentines Day party and to take him home after. I could have gone during my lunch but Braylon was not doing great there yet. I did not want to upset him when I would have to leave to go back to work. So I just sent the treats and his Valentines for his little friends.

On Monday sign up sheets go up on the classroom doors, to sigh up to bring treat. I signed us up to bring some veggies, juice and cupcakes. Not a single other parent signs up for anything! This was the same case for the Valentine party. I was the only parent who signed up. I thought that maybe they didn't sign up, but brought stuff anyway. I mean there are only a total of six children! It is not like it costs that much to pick up or make a treat. So Friday Colin and I show up for the party. Now I understand that at 18moths it is not imperative to go to your child's party. It was not like anything other than eating snacks happened. We were the only parents who came. No biggie. I get that people need to work and need to save sick days for when they are actually sick. However, we were the ONLY ones who brought snacks! Seriously. I am still shocked. I mean really you can't fork out two dollars for some treats for these kids. It made me sad. I know that these kids do not know who bright what or whose parents were there. However, when they get older they will. And Braylon will never be the kid who did not bring something. I get that some people can afford these kinds of things. But this is an expensive day care. They have to have two dollars rolling around in their car to be able to buy a box of cookies or a bag of chips.

Oh well, I guess everyone has different priorities.

Anyway here are two more pictures that Colin snapped.

Colin brought the fire fighter hats for all of Braylon's friends.

  1. Sadly this is the case very often even once they are school age! I don't know how many times I had to buy snacks and drinks for my kiddos because parents "forgot" and then would never send replacement snacks! I understand money can be tight, but it's not fair to put burden on others, especially teachers who hardly make anything! Glad your a stand up mommy! You need to be the room mom when he's in kindergarten! Teachers love mamas like you!

  2. That is so sad. I do not get why parents don't care about their kids needs. Oh I totally will! My mom was always one of ours room mom. It was great. I am really looking forward to being involved with him and school. I think it is so important!
