Two Month Check Up

So today was Braylon's two month doctor visit. I have been nervous and excited for this for weeks. I was looking forward to seeing how much weight he had gained and how long he had grown. I was nervous (okay I will admit terrified) to watch him get his first round of vaccines. In the hospital Braylon had to have more antibiotic shots than most newborns. Due to the drugs I was on, in addition to being Group Beta positive and getting a fever as I was about to deliver, Bryalon required 48 hours of two different antibiotics. Lets just say I was really bad at hearing him cry after them. So naturally I was terrified for today's shots. Today he receive six vaccines, four of them in three different shots and two were a liquid he swallowed. Like a normal baby he cried during the shots, which thankfully were done very fast, (I almost cried too), and seem to enjoy the sweet liquid once he stopped crying to be able to taste it. I had to look away and even cringed when he was stuck with each shot. Since the shots Braylon has been a mixture of sleepy and screaming, the two S's. Luckily for mine and Colin's sanity he has been more sleepy.

In the more happy news of the appointment, Braylon is now 10lbs and 12 ozs and is 21.5 inches long. I cannot believe that in two weeks he gained 5lbs. Our doctor had said to be prepared for a possible 4lb weight gain, I did not believe her at all. She was right! Braylon is in the 25th percentile for weight and the 10th percentile for height. He is on the smaller side but is growing which is all that matters. I cannot believe how fast he is growing and how fast two months have gone by.

Currently, Braylon is holding his head with more control everyday. He is smiling more and cooing. Tonight he cooed at the perfect time in a story Colin was telling him. We both laughed at how perfect it went. Braylon is also tracking our voices and if I am in the room he will just stare at me. I love that all I have to do is hold him when he is crying and all in the world suddenly becomes right again for him.

In the next eight weeks he will continue to coo and smile more. His head control will improve too. At our next appointment the talk of cereal and baby food will be discussed. I am not ready for that yet, hopefully I can hold off til six months until solid foods. I love breastfeeding and will miss all of our quality time (more on this in a post to come).

Here is a picture to leave you with. Braylon and Daddy sleeping like each other this morning. I find them in similar positions more often than not.
