Camping, Part 1

Camping was a regular part of Colin's summer. They would pack up and head to his Aunt Colleens parents house in Alpine, AZ. There Colin, his two brothers and sister would meet up with their cousins (four girls and two boys) to spend some time getting dirty, fishing and eating s'mores. I on the other hand did not grow up camping much. When I was in grade school I remember going a few times. However, after the age of 10 or so most of my camping was done in cabins. Well, this past weekend we started a tradition for Braylon. An annual summer camping trip. We packed up the car Friday morning and headed out to Alpine, AZ to meet up with the whole family. This time not only were all the cousins and aunts/uncles there but also six spouses and twelve of the youngest generation. that is right there were a total of 39 people camping. And for as big of a family that was there, things went incredibly smoothly!

Braylon took a quick liking to the dirt! That kids gets extremely dirty in the house where there is not dirt. He had a blast the whole time there. Our first day, Friday, was basically a bunch of relaxing and people arriving. Some went fishing but we basically sat around, chit chatted, and let the little ones warm up to each other. It did not take Braylon long to start playing.

Braylon loves his cousin Delu

Braylon had this obsession with his chair and the cooler. He manned the cooler the entire afternoon.

So tired. He did not take a nap, but did so well.

Eating a banana with mommy
Once the sun started to set  it was time for dinner. And as you know, my kid loves to eat! The entire trip people kept commenting on what a good eater he is. I swear it is because we make it a point to always all eat together. But who knows.

I love this picture!
Braylon loved being one of the big boys. He even supervised them while they were grilling dinner...

Watching the camp fire
Braylon was so cute at the fire. He kept saying hot, hot, hot and trying to blow it out. We all got a good laugh out of that one.
Finally, Braylon passed out! Usually, he is like me and cannot sleep when he hears people talking and what not. That did not stop him that night. He just crashed. I on the other hand was paranoid all night that he would move the blank off him and freeze to death. The temp did not drop to freeze levels but it sure did get cold at night.

That was day one. Stay tuned to hear about the next four days!
